Mechanical Engineer (Entry Level/Recent Graduate)

We have an open position for a recent BSME graduate to perform as a Project Engineer. This highly motivated and dynamic individual will fully utilize his/her professionalism, competencies, experience, and expertise to work closely with the team in providing engineering support. We are seeking a recent BSME (Mechanical Engineering) graduate or similar degree with coursework in: FEA, Vibration Theory, Dynamics, Mechanics, Materials, and/or Structural Analysis OR we will consider someone with a comparable military degree with related coursework/engineering experience in the Navy (shipboard, shipyard, etc.).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; confirming with management
 - Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors
 - Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates
 - Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements
 - Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems
 - Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions
 - Controls project costs by monitoring and approving expenditures
 - Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions
 - Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations
 - Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
 - Familiarity with Navy Integrated ship systems
 - Conduct Finite Element Analysis to validate required specifications are met
 
Required Education /Skills/Experience: 
- Good verbal communication skills
 - Extensive computer skills
 - Excellent people skills and be a strong team player willing to adapt as necessary
 - Ability to tolerate stress and work in a fast paced environment
 - Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
 - Positive “Can Do” attitude while displaying the initiative and ability to problem solve
 - Strong attention to detail
 - Willing to work overtime when needed
 
Desired Education /Skills/Experience: 
- Mechanical/Electrical Design Skills – Experience with SolidWorks™ preferred
 - Experience with instrumentation control and data acquisition systems is desired
 - Project Management, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, Supervision
 - Candidates with finite element analysis (FEA) experience will receive preference
