Mechanical Engineer (Entry Level/Recent Graduate)

We have an open position for a recent BSME graduate to perform as a Project Engineer. This highly motivated and dynamic individual will fully utilize his/her professionalism, competencies, experience, and expertise to work closely with the team in providing engineering support. We are seeking a recent BSME (Mechanical Engineering) graduate or similar degree with coursework in: FEA, Vibration Theory, Dynamics, Mechanics, Materials, and/or Structural Analysis OR we will consider someone with a comparable military degree with related coursework/engineering experience in the Navy (shipboard, shipyard, etc.).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; confirming with management
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning personnel to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors
  • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates
  • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions
  • Controls project costs by monitoring and approving expenditures
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; recommending actions
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Familiarity with Navy Integrated ship systems
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis to validate required specifications are met

  • Good verbal communication skills

  • Ability to tolerate stress and work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Positive “Can Do” attitude while displaying the initiative and ability to problem solve
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Willing to work overtime when needed


Desired Education /Skills/Experience:

  • Mechanical/Electrical Design Skills – Experience with SolidWorks™ preferred
  • Experience with instrumentation control and data acquisition systems is desired
  • Project Management, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, Supervision
  • Candidates with finite element analysis (FEA) experience will receive preference
